Book excerpt: To save her, he’ll have to give her up…and she won’t let him go. Dr. Ryan Yin hates his people’s mating laws, and he’s not the only tiger shifter male who feels that way. But the grumblings of some young males, led by an enigmatic and dangerous leader, threaten his people’s survival. Ryan’s very real disgust with the Mate Run allows him to infiltrate the group, where he hopes the information he finds can stave off a civil war. He never guesses the young males will go so far as to kidnap tigresses. Now Ryan has to find a way to keep the women alive and get them to safety before anyone else dies. He never expects that among the captives he’ll find his mate. Lakshmi is strong, fierce, and beautiful…and completely beyond his reach. As a rare female tiger shifter, Lakshmi Das was promised by her people that in exchange for taking part in the Mate Run, she and the other tigresses would be safe from the violence and bloodshed of centuries past. Her people failed in that promise. Now Lakshmi is at the mercy of a crazy tiger and his followers who are intent on turning her into a slave mate. Her only hope of escape is the group’s sexy, delicious-smelling doctor, a tiger she can’t let herself trust but who draws her like no other man she’s ever met. Escape will come at a price neither of them expects. They’ll have to defy their people’s laws if they have any hope of being together…but only if they can survive the vengeance of an insane shifter determined to start a rebellion. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many books have been written with respect to either time management, quality control/assurance, cost control or the likes. However, if you apply them in isolation, you may compromise either time, quality or cost. As a result, many people just accept the so called balance between time, quality and cost. To the writer, that balance is not good enough. So for the first time, a book is written with the view to acquire the three important values in totality and achieve excellence with the introduction of the terms zero time, zero mistake, zero cost and a problem solving principle. Chapter 1 will explain the philosophies behind the problem solving principle uphold by this book. Chapter 2 will illustrate the ingredients of this problem solving principle i.e. the formulas such as "the next definite step", "discontinue the work", "what we want ultimately", etc. which were derived from the philosophies explained in Chapter 1. Chapter 3 will explain how the formulas stated in Chapter 2 were applied in piece meal basis to manage fast track projects by some reputable companies in the world. Chapter 4 will illustrate how the formulas are integrated to form a simple but yet effective and efficient problem solving principle. The ways on how this problem solving principle can be applied to solve simple to complicated problems are explained in Chapter 5 This problem solving principle is also flexible such that you can integrate it with your way of thinking to manage time, quality and cost the way you want.

Although she was put into a care home, she ran away two years to live on the streets where she was adopted into a street gang who have now become her family. Danny, the trickster and street magician and Tiger, whose animal instincts run close to the surface, and a few others are all animal activists at heart. Although they go one night to an animal sanctuary in the country to tag the walls with graffiti, Jag gets caught in an enclosure. However, it ends up for the best as the keeper takes a shine to her and offers a part time job when she hears Jag’s affinity with the Jaguar spirit. With Jag working at the sanctuary, her gang start spending more time there to see the great Cat Man Do perform his animal magic – until one day when a tiger is let out its cage. And that is only the beginning as a villainous Cat Man begins to stalk the streets with two pet panthers out for blood, seemingly appearing and disappearing at will. With newspapers reporting maulings and deaths and Sergeant Dickins not sure what’s going on, the kids are intrigued by the reports. After witnessing an attack, the kids get sucked into this mysterious Cat Man’s idea of a theatrical villain performance – but even if they have animal instincts and spirits with them and even if the big cats are swaying to their side, should they run before they too turn prey?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In parts of Korea and China, moon bears, black but for the crescent-shaped patch of white on their chests, are captured in the wild and brought to "bear farms" where they are imprisoned in squeeze cages, and a steel catheter is inserted into their gall bladders. The dripping bile is collected as a cure for ailments ranging from an upset stomach to skin burns. The bear may live as long as fifteen years in this state. Rhinos are being illegally poached for their horns, as are tigers for their bones, thought to improve virility. Booming economies and growing wealth in parts of Asia are increasing demand for these precious medicinals. Already endangered species are being sacrificed for temporary treatments for nausea and erectile dysfunction. Richard Ellis, one of the world's foremost experts in wildlife extinction, brings his alarm to the pages of Tiger Bone & Rhino Horn, in the hope that through an exposure of this drug trade, something can be done to save the animals most direly threatened. Trade in animal parts for traditional Chinese medicine is a leading cause of species endangerment in Asia, and poaching is increasing at an alarming rate. Most of traditional Chinese medicine relies on herbs and other plants, and is not a cause for concern. Ellis illuminates those aspects of traditional medicine, but as wildlife habitats are shrinking for the hunted large species, the situation is becoming ever more critical. One hundred years ago, there were probably 100,000 tigers in India, South China, Sumatra, Bali, Java, and the Russian Far East. The South Chinese, Caspian, Balinese, and Javan species are extinct. There are now fewer than 5,000 tigers in all of India, and the numbers are dropping fast. There are five species of rhinoceros--three in Asia and two in Africa--and all have been hunted to near extinction so their horns can be ground into powder, not for aphrodisiacs, as commonly thought, but for ailments ranging from arthritis to depression. In 1930, there were 80,000 black rhinos in Africa. Now there are fewer than 2,500. Tigers, bears, and rhinos are not the only animals pursued for the sake of alleviating human ills--the list includes musk deer, sharks, saiga antelope, seahorses, porcupines, monkeys, beavers, and sea lions--but the dwindling numbers of those rare species call us to attention. Ellis tells us what has been done successfully, and contemplates what can and must be done to save these animals or, sadly, our children will witness the extinction of tigers, rhinos, and moon bears in their lifetime.

Book excerpt: The Sibundoy valley of southwestern Colombia is the home of a unique Indian culture -- one that blends Incan elements with those of the aboriginal natives. Moreover, Sibundoy bridges two domains, the Andean highlands and the Amazonian basin, and inter-mixed with all of these elements are European influences, particularly folk and orthodox Catholicism. From this cultural enclave, John McDowell presents here a body of oral material collected from the Santiago Ingano community. This corpus of material is made up of some 200 "sayings of the ancestors," proverb-like statements, many concerned with dreams and the forecasting of future events. From an analysis of these sayings emerges a cosmological view of the Sibundoy Indians, a glimpse of their spiritual world. It is a world where spirits constantly impinge on the activities of everyday life. It is a world where the sayings can both warn of spiritual sickness and offer the way to spiritual health. For the Sibundoy the sayings go back to the first people, the "ancestors," who established for all time the models for a proper life. The study of the sayings is rounded out with references to the parallel fields of mythology and folk medicine as these contribute to a clearer understanding of their roles and functions in Sibundoy life. Sayings of the Ancestors provides a fascinating body of original folkloric and ethnographic material from a unique cultural locus. It is also an engrossing demonstration that what seems a miscellaneous group of small beliefs can be seen as the components of a larger world-order. The book and its interpretive findings will be a valuable resource for folklorists, anthropologists, and many Latin Americanists.

As Iolanthe and Carol grow up, Iolanthe begins to wonder how well she ever knew her foster sister, and soon her loyalties are tested to destruction in order to save the family itself.
